Question Okay, so i know a Lipome isn't a Brain Tumor, but i couldnt find a better fit category. so, i have an 18 month old daughter that has Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum, the only associated issue is a Lipoma in the region of the brain where her Corpus Callosum should be. I was assued this was nothing to worry about, but after her last MRI revealed the Lipoma had grown .8 centemeters, making it a total of 2.8 centemeters, her doctor has referred her to a neurosurgeon at the nearest valley childrens. their soonest appointment is 4 weeks, and i dont know if i can wait that long for news, i want to know what im up against, is this really bad, are lipomas in the brain supposed to grow outside of the childs growth pattern, should i be concerned, her doctor told me isnt sure
Answer Neither am I since this is a somewhat irregular behavior and a very unusual case as described. However IF treatment is necessary there is an alternative to surgery and that is radiological deletion of her lesion with the so called GammaKnife. The size of her lesion is small enough for that. Good luck!
