Question
Hi,
I have a friend who has recently been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in the brain. She is having just under two weeks of radiotherapy. She looks really well, has not lost her appetite and is not sleeping very well. I haven't seen any other information apart from this site which gives people in this situation months. Without sounding harsh can I ask why you are so forthcoming when everybody else says they do not know?

Answer
Unfortunately because it is the truth. And it is useless to shield people from the truth when it soon will be apparent anyway. I do not like to write it, I hate to do it! But I have to assume that people who ask these questions here really want to know the truth or there would be no reason to ask. However not everyone wants to tell the truth since in these cases it is not pleasant. It is then easier to say I do not know. However if I am doing this at all I see it as my duty to tell the truth. And unfortunately so far no one has come back later and told me that I was wrong. Not a small number has also thanked me for my honesty. I do hope I have been able to explain my position!
