Brain Tumors/Inoperable Brain Tumor

Question
Dr Nordquist, My cousin was diagnosed aprox 1 year ago with a brain tumor at the base of her brain.  She told us that it is inoperable "but that is OK". In the past year it would seem that her body is breaking down little by little.  There are issues with almost every internal organ and she has just undergone a pelvic nerve block also, she is on tons of RX's and the Dr's have now stopped her IVIG treatments.  She is becoming aggressive and very forgetful of the simplest things, such as what year it is.

The only thing she will tell the family is that she "is doing pretty well and things are looking good".

Is it possible for you to tell us what the true situation is?  It would seem to us that with an inoperable brain tumor and progressive failing of her system that we should be preparing.

Thank you for your time.  And we appreciate any help.

Answer
Well, a brain tumor at the base of the brain may well be inoperable. But in order to give you a better evaluation I would need a lot more information than that (kind of tumor, grade, size, exact location etc.).
The symptoms you describe do not look good either but again I have too little to go on. Sorry!
