Question
My friend's father (62 yrs old) has a high grade malignant
glial neoplasm and the father's sister died of a brain tumor
5 years ago. The type of brain tumor is unknown, diagnosis,
then surgery and death happened within weeks.  Is this tumor
heredity or familial in nature? What are the chances that my
friend may be at risk for a brain tumor?

Answer
At the moment the causes of malignant brain tumors are completely unknown but nothing is known at present that in any way indicates that there are genetic (hereditary) factors involved. That is all I can tell you now. So it seems that his and his sister's tumors were completely coincidental which is uncommon but not unknown.
