Question
MY spouse had a crainiotomy due to a 1inch tumor about 1 month ago, He had an appointment for radiosurgery today that was cancelled due to his mapping mri for this procedure showed an additional 7 plus lesions and new cell growth (also cancer) now they want to do a 610 round op radiation and then do the chemo for his kungs afterwards, I guess I am dazed and confused as we thought from what we were told last week that all was well even with it being stage 4 lung cancer, perhaps shocked at how fast this is growing, any insight plaease, he is considering no treatment as it seems to be going so fast, THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!!!!

Answer
Unfortunately I'm not surprised if this is a stage 4 lung cancer that has spread to his brain - which lung cancers rather commonly do. In fact it would be quite remarkable if it had only spread to one site in his brain. If it has spread to somewhere it has also usually spread to elsewhere. That unfortunately also includes other places of his body outside his brain. So a CT scan search of other sites of his body may be needed. Radiation therapy of his whole brain can be used also in combination with chemotherapy. But a stage 4 cancer can at present not be cured. But such treatment can slow down the process. That is all though. So his prognosis is unfortunately very bad. I'm sorry I have nothing better to tell you!
