Question Thank you for all of your information for my Dad. We went to a Neuro-Oncologist who wants to start my Dad on a clinical trial. These drugs have been out in Europe and wanted to know if you have heard of them. Avastin and Afinitor (everolimus) together as a clinical trial. I wanted to see if you had heard much about these two drugs because they are fairly new over here. They have decided that he has a Grade 2 Malignant Meningioma, the Gamma Knife and the Radiation worked on the area's that were treated. But the two new tumors are in the same area from the same tumor they have just moved to the untreated part. I did ask about the radiofrequency ablation, and the Dr said he hasn't heard of that being done over here before? Any suggestions on these drugs, we know something has to be done. And the Dr's have said my Dad is otherwise VERY healthy? Thank you for your time with all of this. I wish I could repay you for all of your advice, you really are a help in more ways that you know.
Answer I have no idea if the radio frequency ablation technique has been used for this kind of tumor. It has been used for some tumors in the lungs and the liver. That is why you would have to ask his neurosurgeon about it, probably not his neurooncologist. There are possible surgical complications involved. That is why the surgeon must be asked. Yes I know of these drugs but I have no experience of them being used for this kind of tumor so I have not much to offer with regards to advice there. Well this site is free of charge. The site I mention below is my payment site. Thanks! You are welcome! Good luck! P.S. Yes unfortunately it is most uncertain if an otherwise good health is of much help in this situation. So there is not much - if anything - that I can promise you here unfortunately!
