Question
since 9/17/09 i have had 5 mris on my brain and they found a tumor on my right frontal lobe the size of 32 mm by 19 mm they cant tell me any information other than that its there now they want to take a biopsy and that scares me cuz they dont know or well wont give me any information how is a biopsy done and what should i ask to get the information i need to make this decision

Answer
In order to find out what kind of tumor it is you have a biopsy is NECESSARY (so your doctors can not tell you anything until they have the pathology results of such a biopsy). The biopsy procedure is surgical. A (small) hole is made in your skull close to your lesion and a hollow needle is pushed through your brain and into your tumor. The risks of this procedure are small. Tissue samples of your tumor are brought out this way to be studied by pathologists. This is ABSOLUTELY necessary to know what kind of tumor you have and what can be done about it. So there is really not much choice on this matter! Good luck and do not wait long with your decision!
