Question
My 56 yo husband was diagnosed with GBM r)parietal  8/11/07.  Had IMRT/Temodar 1st course treatment, then clinical trial at MD Anderson in Houston 2008.  Stopped after 11 months b/c pneumocystis pneumonia.  All MRIs have been stable. Has been back on Temodar for last 16 months.  Now has severe r)eye pain for a week.  Has MRI w/orbits scheduled next week.  Could GBM spread from parietal to eye/optic nerve?  We're hoping sinusitis.  Could there be a real worry re: his GBM.  His first and only symptom of GBM was grand mal seizure on ER table requiring intubation, after presenting to ER with ataxia for first time that day.  No headaches before.  Thanks for info.

Answer
A GBM brain tumor usually has a bad prognosis but usually does not grow in the way you describe. However the diagnosis of this tumor is in itself a cause for real worry even though in his case so far his tumor seems to have behaved itself remarkably well - so well in fact that I start to wonder if the diagnosis is quite correct. Has any biopsy ever been done?
