Question
Hello doctor,

My mom has a grade 2 astrocytoma which has increased in size. She is completely bed ridden now.
Recently she has these bluish purple patches on her back, hands and hips.What do these marks signify? She had some withering of the skin on the lower back. Is there any medicine to treat this?

Answer
It may be the beginning of bed sores. There are no specific medicines. But she is in need of being turned more often so that her bed position is changed more frequently!
