Question
My husband, who is 55 was diagnosed with gbm grade 4 in Fed of 2009 and had 2 surgeries, radiation and temador. he had been on Avastin for a year with good results until I noticed a change in confusion with words and aphasia in june of this year and an MRi on July 2 showe the tumor grew from .5 cm to 5cm by 7cm.  The tmor was in the left temporal lobe and is now spread to the parietal and occipital lobes they have added cpt-11 to the Avastin.  What are his chances now and how long do you think he has. Please help We have a daughter who is just starting college and we are devastated otherwise he is the picture of health.  Although he has lost peripheral vision on the right.

Answer
Unfortunately the prognosis of all GBM grade IV (4) tumors remains very bad regardless of treatment. Treatment can inprinciple so far only prolong the process. Even so I estimate his remaining time to be measured in months at most. I'm sorry I have nothing better to tell you!
