Question
QUESTION: The findings saids:Previously noted prominent draining venous structure in proximal
region of the right temporal horn is noted below the level of trigone.
The degree of enhancement seen on today's examination is less than
prior examination. This may represent an unusual ependymoma vein or
remotely a focal venous angioma. There is no accompanying brain
parenchymal enhancement, mass or hemorrhage.

So what does this mean? I known ependymoma means tumor but yet its not clear if thay's what they are saying.

ANSWER: To interpret this at my best ability I need to read BOTH this FULL report AND previous FULL reports so that I can compare notes! You can copy them here.

QUESTION: Mri finding 11/2009
There was focal vascular enhancemnt in subependymal region of right temporal horn just below the level of trigone. This was either within the brain parenchyma or within the subependymal region. A prominent draining vascular structure is noted extending into the perimesencephalic cistern. No corresponding such vascular structure on the opposite left side is present. The finding most likely is a venous angioma in the subependymal region or adjointing medial temporal lobe. The intracranial anatomy otherwise was normal.

Answer
I do not think this has anything to do with an ependymoma (tumor). I think what should be written there is what is written in the report you just have sent me "(sub)ependymal". So what is described is either an unusual venous blood vessel in the (sub)ependymal region or a venous angioma there. An angioma is by definition a tumour but a benign one and not very dangerous if at all. Therefore since I'm a cancer doctor angiomas are in principle outside my area of expertise. You should discuss this with a neurologist or a neurosurgeon! Good luck!
