Brain Tumors/Neurologist or Neuro-Surgeon?

Question
My dad had what the experts have called a grand-mal seizure in his sleep a few weeks ago.  They performed all kinds of tests on him:  blood-work, EEG, CT scan and MRI.  The neurologist informed my dad that "although we cannot physically see a tumor, we think it is a tumor and should therefore perform surgery to be sure".  The neuro-surgeon who was scheduled to perform the surgery, however, disagreed with the neurologist and recommended that "before diving into brain surgery .... we wait a month to do another MRI to see what it shows".  We are all confused and don't know who to believe/listen to.  Should we get another opinion?  Who is right?

Answer
Well without ANY signs of any tumor it is difficult to understand what his neurologist based his opinion on! So I have to side with his neurosurgeon. But it is never wrong to ask for a second opinion from either a neurologist or a neurosurgeon (both are OK). Maybe I and his neurosurgeon both have overlooked something?! It is however true that a tumor should always be suspected when epilepsy starts anew in a grown up. But if it gives such symptoms it should also be possible to see it in an MRI brain scan!
