Brain Tumors/Proton therapy vs tomotherapy forJPA

Question
My 6 y.o gr.son has undergone surg X2 for JPA.  They removed as much as possible but there remains a small piece of tumor in the brainstem (grade2) Chemo didnt work and tumor grew plus 2 cysts developed thus the need for a second surg. but again they were unable to get it all.  The oncologist is now planning for tomotherapy.  What would be your choice in such a situation--tomotherapy or protontherapy.  We want whats best for our grandson.  We would need to travel 700miles for proton therapy but would be willing to do it if this is a better form of therapy with less side affects.  thanks

Answer
With tomotherapy I suppose that you mean stereotactic radiation therapy with the so called GammaKnife? If so that treatment and proton treatment in a case like this are about equal. I can not see much difference if any at all except perhaps in availability. Good luck!
