Question
I have a 10 year old grandson that has been treated for epilepsey but in 2010 he had a MRI and a fairly large tumor was found on the hypothalamus. The doctors ay that usually a tumor there is probably malignant but they are afraid to do a biopsy or surgery because he also has a severe bloodclotting disease called Protein S and C Deficiency.Could you tell me what percent of these tumors are really malignant. Shouldnt they be doing something as isnt time very important if it is cancer?

Answer
To be able to answer with any accuracy I would need to read his MRI report. If possible you can copy it here. Yes - if possible - something should be done but the location is tricky and with his other complications it may indeed be impossible to do anything. How big is his tumor? If not too big stereotactic radiation therapy MAY be possible. But I can not promise anything.
