My husband, age 46, had a near gross total resection of a grade 2 astrocytoma nine months ago. No further treatment was given. He had his nine month follow up MRI last week and all was stable. The last several days he has been doing a lot of yard work and exercising. Today he mentioned that both wrists were aching which is one of the symptoms he had before his diagnosis along with headaches and trouble finding the correct words. He is not having the headaches or word problems but the wrist pain is concerning. He also has had tremors of the right hand the last several days. He has been on lamictal for six months with no other problems. What do you make of this? Could the tremors be a side effect of the lamictal? Could this be regrowth of the tumor since last week? I would greatly appreciate any input you would have on this.
Thank you.
Answer I doubt that much has happened since last week. The tremor should be reported to his doctor. At the same time he should report his wrist pains though I doubt that they have anything to do with his tumor. He should report it all to his doctor and discuss it with him/her soonest. The only observation here that I think can be of interest is his tremor. Since there is no head ache and no problems to talk etc. I see no cause for worry at present but he SHOULD discuss it with his doctor! Good luck!
