Question
My husband has the above brain tumor (non-small cell lung cancer metastases) 7.5 cm in size.  In you opinion, is this type of tumor operable by using tubular extraction method.  This tumor is already elongating the left thalamus and is probably attached to the guttural vein of the brain.  Just your opinion would be helpful.  Thank you for your consideration.

Answer
First of all I'm not a neurosurgeon but a medical oncologist & radiation therapist doctor with experience of treating brain tumors. This is actually a question for a neurosurgeon since it is a surgical question. However based on your description I'll stick my neck out and will try to make some sort of evaluation. I think, based on that description, that it is quite doubtful if this lesion can be treated surgically. It is also unfortunately - here I'm on my own and therefore firmer ground - far too big to be treatable with stereotactic radiation therapy. If all that is correct only conventional radiation therapy remains as a real option. I'm sorry I have nothing better to tell you!
