Question
QUESTION: It's going to be one year since my friends' wife was diagnosed with this horrible cancer. The recovery has been unbelievable. Although due the RT, her hair will no longer grow back, she has lost most of the pounds gained due to the medication and is becoming stronger everyday. She does have inconsistencies here and there but over all you would never know she went through all she did a couple of months ago. She even started working a month ago. Her life is becoming normal. Spending time with her family, her son, becoming stronger and working a normal work week. She has undergo, two MRI's and so far everything has been cleared. She underwent a third MRI and next week she will get the results.
My question to you doctor, her diagnosed is horrible as you know with this type of cancer. Doctors and research continue to say no cure and show estimated survival time of less than two years (Her Oncologist say 18 months to be exact. Is this still correct? Is the prognosis still two years? Is it normal that she recovers remarkably and that this cancer will come back within this time and kill her? Every MRI the family is so worried about the recurrence. They are terrified, that everything read and research will be correct. But it's so hard to belive that after recovering so remarkably, she can get horribly worst at any given moment. What are your thoughts? Has there been any positive change with this cancer or is the prognosis still the same?
Please advice.
Thank you so much for your time...

ANSWER: Well we can hope for progress with regards to treatment results but in this situation I do not dare to promise anything in view of her diagnosis. But at least so far she seems to have made a remarkable recovery. I can only hope that it will continue but no guarantees are possible. Please do keep me posted!
