Question
My 19 year daughter has been diagnosed with a 5-6mm lipoma in the frontal region, there is no associated mass or secondary features.  She is experiencing severe migraine like headaches and vomiting, pain in her neck and back. Doctors are just putting this down to migraine and not doing anything about, her headaches are increasing with only a day or two between each bout of 2 to 3 days of severe headaches, light sensitive and throbbing headache across the front of her head. Will the lipoma get bigger? what questions should I ask the doctors and how can we get the best treatment for her. She has never suffered with headaches and has never been sick before, we do not know where to go from here.

Answer
Lipomas are not dangerous in any way and can not cause the symptoms you describe. The symptoms you describe do fit a severe migraine. She should consult an experienced neurologist - preferably with a university connection. Good luck!
