I have many of the same issues due to spinal damage from herniated discs in my neck literally grinding on my cervical spine. I have found that Stress will only make it worse. When it starts acting up, sit or lay down and just relax. (Maybe a warm bath...)  Definitely see your DR. there are many things that can cause this but most are nothing to get yourself over stressed about. If you feel that you need immediate attention you should go to the nearest emergency room.  Best Wishes. God Bless!
