Brain Tumors/GBM

Question
Hello  my male friend, 49 years old was diagnosed with Gioblatomamultiforme IV.  Surgery was successful, surgeon said he was able to get 100 percent of the tumor.  From all that I have read about GBM, I am concerned that there may still be cells that are forming a new tumor.  Treat was not started until 6 weeks after surgery.  Treatment will be Chemo Tremodar and radiation together.  The oncologist is telling him he is young and healthy and could live 15 years.  Realistically, from what I have read, I am sceptical.  Any comments you may have would be appreciated.  Thank you kindly

Answer
Unfortunately you are correct! A glioblastoma multiforme grade IV has a 100% mortality rate even with ALL available therapy - as here! All what his full therapy can do is to prolong his survival time somewhat. Even with that delay I doubt that he will live much longer than one year from now and it may be shorter. NO surgeon can promise that he got 100% of a malignant brain tumor out! These statements from his drs. are misguided efforts of not worrying the patient, but in these days of information technology that is a futile task! I'm sorry I have nothing better to tell you!
