Brain Tumors/benign meningioma

Question
i was recently diagnosed w/benign meningioma 2cm parasellar mass(i am 47 y/o). saw a neurosurgeon suggested to monitor and recheck in 3mo due to the location. it is calcified and surrounds the carotid artery. he stated to remove surgically, the risk of stroke and damage to the optic nerve causing blindness to rt eye was high. to use cyberknife could potentially cause stenosis to the carotid artery leading to a stroke(5-10%). i am going for a 2nd opinion this week , the neurosurgeon has given me referrals to see a radiation oncologist for possible future need, also an opthamologist regarding vision problems i have had that apparently are unrelated to my diagnosis. also to get his opinion on how close this is to the optic nerve. also have experienced some dizziness which led me to my md and the ct was ordered followed by the mri. he is also sending me to and ent specialist. i would appreciate any imput you may have. i'm concerned that if i wait 3 months could this tumor grow into the carotid and cause a stroke(again i am going to see another neurosurgeon this week for another opinion)  thank you for your time sincerely lynn

Answer
With the location you mention it is indeed close to both the optic nerves and to the carotid artery. Its size however is ideal for radiological treatment without surgery by CyberKnife or GammaKnife or proton beams. Its position may cause the mentioned complications though which may complicate things. Without access to much more information I can not tell you anything more unfortunately. Yes I agree that you should seek several second opinions! Good luck!
