Question
My dad has been experiencing inability to remember certain words & memory loss. he had one severe headache, went for CAT scan & they found a 1 1/2" tumor behind his left eye (he has no vision disturbances). my dad is 66 y.o. & has had renal cell carcinoma about 5 yrs ago. he has only 33% of his kidneys functioning & also has 71/2" & 8" blockages in his legs. do they remove tumors that large? we do not know what kind of tumor it is or if it is benign or  mallignant. please share your thoughts on a prognosis / tx plan. thank you

Answer
It is a bit big for radiological removal with the GammaKnife or the CyberKnife or with proton beams especially if it is malignant. Before any decision on what to do with it can be made it MUST be known what it is and if benign or malignant. How to do that and if surgery is possible or not is best discussed with a neurosurgeon (I'm a medical oncologist & radiation therapist with experience of treating brain tumors).
