The spasms you are describing seem to be Hypnic jerks. They usually occur when a person is extremely sleep deprived or is falling asleep uncomfortably; i have never heard of them being caused by a brain tumor.

I am going through exactly the same thing since 4 weeks. Thats why i came here on this site while searching on google what exactly is up with me. I have panic disorder and i think these jerks are because of this disorder as its the same with you. Tomorrow i m going to psychiatrist to talk to him about this and so should you. What i came to know after searching is that its not a serious issue and it is definately not a brain tumor. But in some articles "seizures" have been mentioned a lot and i am getting a feeling that it must be really related to "seizures" but i hope not.
