Question
my father had a brain tumor removed 7 months ago; afterwards he received 33 treatments of whole brain radiation, 10 months prior to all of this he had a tumor in the same place which was also surgically removed; he went back to the doctor today and was told he has another tumor just a little bit lower than before and about the same size (golf ball); what is causing them to return so rapidly and what can be done about it

Answer
Bobby, I'm surprised his dr. has not discussed this with him or you! This is obviously a malignant brain tumor. Malignant (cancer like) brain tumors can NOT be cured with ANY known therapy at present! The best we can do at present with surgery, radiation therapy and chemo therapy is to prolong survival time and decrease symptoms - for a time! That is unfortunately all! There is at present unfortunately no known way to stop this! I'm sorry I have nothing better to tell you! Some more time may perhaps still be possible to gain but no cure.
