Question
I am writing a term paper on Brazilian food taboos, but i can't seem to find much information on the matter. Is there any kind of food that Brazilians won't eat either for religious or culture

Answer
Ruth,

Brazilians have few cultural taboo towards food and they don't eat some type of food for historical reasons (not available, cost, never tried before), such as horse meat and raw meat.

Many Catholics eat only fish (not other meat) in the Good Friday holiday.

Some people believe that certain types of food could bring good luck when eating in special occasions, such as lentil soup in the New Year eve.

Others thing that some combination of food are unhealthy - please check Paula's answer on 2/18/2007 on this site for more details.
