Question
Hi Ken,
I am planning to buy and sell various types of women shoes, hand bags and accessories in South Africa for middle income earners. Would you kindly furnish me with the list of factory shops preferably in one city/area or close to one another where I can get them at reasonable price. I do not speak Portuguese and realise that I may have a language problem. Also if you can, please advice on budget accommodation. How is the weather in June/July?

Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
Mohau

Answer
Handbags I dont know, but can find out. Shoes are all in Franca in Sao Paulo, about two hours from the Sao Paulo city, which is where you will fly into when you arrive from So Africa. $1 = BRL1.69 today. A hotel will cost you at least BRL150 per night in Franca. Driving to Franca will cost you at least BRL400 or you can fly, round trip will cost you about BRL850. Food per day will cost you at least BRL50, depending on wher eyou eat and what is your appetite like. June and July are winter months. Temperatures will be as low as 40 at night to as high as 75-80 during the day. Avg temps will be in the mid to upper 60s in Sao Paulo city, with Franca being a bit milder.

If you want me to furnish you with names and contacts for shoe co's and handbag manufacturers, this will cost you at least $3,000 for the information. And you would have to pay it up front. We could sign a legal contract to guarantee the work and pay arrangement. Sorry.
