Question
QUESTION: Hi,

I met this woman on-line through Brazilcupid.com. We have been chating on-line for about a month. I want her to visit the US, however she needs to apply for a Visa. She has asked me to purchase the Visa to show that I am sincere. She has also stated she is currently unemployed. I earn about $90.0k, so I can afford the Visa. My basically question is should I trust her enough to pay for the Visa, and the air fare? If so, how can I get some assurance that she is sincere?

Thanks,

Vincent

ANSWER: Hello Vicent,

This is a very personal question. However, I believe that will be hard for her to get a US visa if she doesn't have a job. Why don't you go to see her in Brazil first? Brazil is a very beautiful country.

Good luck!

QUESTION: Hi Edison,

Is there a consulate in Porto Alegre? Can a Visa be obtained through a third-party?

Thanks,

Vincent

ANSWER: Vicente,

There is only a "virtual presence post" in Porto Alegre. I believe she needs to go for an interview in Sao Paulo before getting the visa. For more information, ask her to call the number below and check these links:

How can a Visa be obtained through a third-party travel agency? Can it be expedited rather than taking the normal 107 days to do a face-to-face interview?

Thanks,

Vincent
