What are the customs associated with gift-giving in Brazil or other Latin American cultures?  I need to go to a baby shower soon for a couple recently emigrated from Brazil to the US that will be giving birth to their first son.   I’d like to take a great gift.

According to my Brazilian wife, baby clothes are great gifts. The parents would also like baby bedding and toys (the ones be used for few years).

Remember, since babies grow very fast, I would buy few less expensive (quality and brand as "much have" for Brazilians) pieces of clothes for different ages (months) instead of a single costly one (will only be wore few times). If you don't know the sex of the baby, choose white color. Otherwise, blue and/or white for boys and pink and/or white for girls.
