Question
hey there!

I have been in brazil now for 7 months with a tourist visa. i am traveling currently, and just found out that i have been awarded a cultural exchange position in argentina this coming march 2009. now i am very concerned about visa issues. my visa expired here (i was on a tourist visa) and i am worried that the visa violator stamp will ruin my chances at accepting this position. could you please offer me some advise? if i get a new passport, will the stamp still be on it?

Answer
kathryn,

Congratulations for the award. Since Argentina is a separated country, your Brazilian expired visa should not affect your entry there. Try to contact a migration lawyer in Brazil to help to fix your current visa problem.

Other option is to leave Brazil before getting a new passport, to avoid any "visa violation" stamp on it.

Good luck!
