Question
Hi Edison,
My husband has been working in Brazil for the past year in Caana, North eastern Brazil on a mining project. He is helping Brazilian Engineers start a hydro met plant that is a more environmentally responsible way to deal with the by products of smelting copper. He has been asked to move to Caana for a year and now we are wondering what to do. We have a 2 year old son and I will be pregnant and possibly have a baby while we are there. Is it relatively safe to have a baby in this community, meaning will we have access to a hospital and an english speaking doctor. My husband speaks some portuguese and I will be provided with intense lanage training.  I really don't even know what questions to ask I just really want to know that while we are there everyone will be safe and healthy. I know that it will be very different from Canada but we are adventurous and think this amy be a really interesting cultural experience, however I am a bit worried that Caana is just a bit too remote.

Thank you so much, Jane

Answer
Hello Jane,

I am not familiar with the Caana area. However, it must be a very small, remote, hot place and few English speakers. My recommendation is to have the baby in Canada, then visit Caana to decide if you want to move there or not.

Sorry for not knowing more about the place.

Good luck and congratulations for the baby!
