Question
I have a friend (female) who would like to come to Texas and visit.  I spent a week in Brazil 30 days ago and realize that "hurry" is not in their vocabulary.  Making things difficult is.  I have been told by a Brasilian friend of mine here that she could have a hard time.  Other than her just showing up for an interview "cold turkey" and being at the mercy of the review board, do you have any advice? We have a college here in my town.  Could a person sign up for a couple of courses and be considered for the student visa?

Answer
Hello Mark,

The US government is very restricted in giving tourist visas to Brazilians. Students visas can be a little easier. Usually, she needs to be accepted by a school in US and prove that she can financially support herself during the studies.  "Cold turkey" interview will not work and will make be things harder in future visa applications.

Good luck!
