QuestionQUESTION: Hi, Edison. How important are social/informal networks in finding jobs in Brazil (Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia)? Where can anyone find offline job vacancy announcements (newspapers, university bulletin boards, cafes, or embassies)? Thanks.
ANSWER: Hello Kathleen!
Social, informal and family networks are extremely important for many jobs in Brazil. But this take time to developed.
Traditionally, newspapers are the largest source of offline job ads. However, all major newspapers have also online presence nowadays. Recruiting companies are another good source for offline opportunities.
I still believe that the online job and web search engines provide the most efficient way of finding openings in major cities in Brazil.
Good luck!
