Question
Hi everyone, need some help with moving to Brazil. I accepted a job in Sao Paulo and will move there in about 3 months (I am in SP now looking at apartments). I am a US resident, Italian citizen and would like to bring my 2 cars from New York City where I presently live. I own a 2008 Audi A8 and a 2007 Audi Q7. These two cars in Brazil cost about 3 times what they are worth in the states. Can i bring these cars in without having to pay duty? What are the restrictions surrounding this? I am a non resident non national if that makes any difference. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Please copy me on  as well. thank you !

Answer
You can not bring new cars to Brazil, only classic cars 30 yrs or older. If you want an AudiA8, you will have to sell your car and buy one here. Source -- Receita Federal (IRS) and CAMEX, Brazil's Foreign Trade Council.
