Question
I have a client born in 1953 claiming that the government uses her marriage certificate as proof of her birth??  If she is divorced from this husband is the Certidao De Casamento also qualified as proof of birth in Recife??

Can you translate and if so what would you charge to translate this document?

Thank you

Answer
Hello Roy,

I am not expert in this subject. Usually, the marriage certificate replaces the birth certificate when married. However, I not sure if it is still valid after her divorce (for example, her name could have changed).

My recommendation is to  contact the Brazilian embassy in your country for clarification and official translation of documents. See list on this link: http://www.embassiesabroad.com/embassies-of/Brazil

Good luck!
