Question
Hi,

I am flying to Brazil in a little over three weeks and will be living with my girlfriend who is Brazilian. I am interested in teaching in the Sao Paulo area and wanted to know what the criteria is for me to work legally.

I have also been speaking to language schools in the UK regarding lining Brazilians who are interested in studying in the UK with courses and wanted to know what rules and regulations there woul;d be for me to either get a visa to do this or to start a company in Brazil?

Any help would be gratefully recieved.

Many Thanks,

Matt

Answer
Hello Matt,

I am not expert on visa issues; however, you would need a working or business permission to work in Brazil. Also, the Brazilian bureaucracy requires a lot of paperwork (+ translations and money) for a foreign to start a business in Brazil. A simpler option would be your girlfriend to start a business and hire you as employee.

For working visa information, please contact the Brazilian consulate in London:
