Question
Hi Edison,

My family and i hold dual citizenship - Brazil & Canadian - we haven't lived in Brazil for over 20 years (we are in Canada now) but have decided to move back to Brazil.
Do you know what documents are necessary when we enter the country (once we land there?), do we need to let the authorities know then that we will be permanent resident? also, do we declare all the personal items we will carry with us? do you know also how much cash we are allowed to bring into the country?
We have arranged to ship our furniture and other items with an intl moving company so they will arrange for the paperwork for those items.
sorry for all the questions, but it's hard to find any answers...

thank you for your time.

Answer
Hello Ca,

The laws and regulations are frequently changing in Brazil. So, just to be on the safe side, my recommendation is to ask these questions to a Brazilian consulate in Canada. Here is URL: http://brasembottawa.org/

Have fun in Brazil!
