Question
Hi, I currently live in Texas and am interested in moving to Brazil to live. How exactly do you move to Brazil? I can't seem to get a straight answer; I've heard that you have to marry a Brazilian to you have to get a job in Brazil.
So how does someone move to Brazil? and how does someone become a citizen of Brazil?

Answer
There are a number of ways to get permanent residence status in Brazil (some only for just a certain term). Among them are:
*father a child who qualifies as a Brazilian citizen
*marry a Brazilian citizen
*invest R$150K in a business that creates 10 jobs
*be over age 50 and show a retirement pansion of U$2K per month
*have a company sponsor you for a legal work visa

To become a citizen of Brazil, you must have been a permanent resident for a fixed period of time, among other qualifications.

I would highly suggest you spend a lot of time visiting and getting used to Brazil before you make any major life decisions.
