Brazil/Tax for staying in Brasil illegally

Question
Sandra,

I'm currently in Brasil over the time allowed for my tourist visa (roughly 3 months) I'm in a committed relationship with a native Brazilian and I want to change my visa, but I know because I'm illegal, I am unable to do so. I have plane ticket home to America, and I was wondering how much the tax is to leave the country.

Thank so much,

Charlie

Answer
I beleive it is about R$8 per day (R$8,64?) up to about R$800. You may not be charged on exit, but your passport will most likely be stamped and you will have to pay on your next entry. Alternatively, to pay on exit, leave a couple of hours extra before your flight to get the process done.
