Question
I have a couple questions that google didn't give great answers to.One what area to live would be best for a single African American parent of 2 or more comfortable to me.Also at the universities do professors speak English? Is it hard to become employed there coming from the U.S. and I don't understand how Eros work if $10 us is $1000 how far does that 1,000 go in brazil?

Please advise, thanks.

Answer
Hello Lakisha,

Big cities provide more job and study opportunities: Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Campinas.  You and your kids will need to learn Portuguese in order get jobs and study in Brazil. Also, you must get a work permission visa in a Brazilian consulate in U.S. before allowing to migrate and work in the country.

For a reasonable life in Brazil, you would need at least US$ 2,000 (3,800 reais) per month.

For visa issues, please contact the Brazilian consulate in your area:

For additional cost and job opportunities, please contact expatriated organizations in Brazil:
