Question
I will be retiring at the end of the year 2010 I will be getting around 2500 per month what life style can I afford. I MAY BE ABLE TO BUY A HOME WITH 30,000 US PLEASE HELP

Answer
In order to get a retirement visa for Brazil, you must show proof of U$2000 in pension income. (This does not include interest from stock, rental income, or anything else, just pension) Otherwise, you are restricted to a tourist visa which gives you 6 months maximum per year in Brazil. It would be very difficult to find a comfortable house or apartment for U$30,000 in any urban area or popular beach area in Brazil, particularly S.P. It is a more expensive country than many people assume. On 2500, in S.P., if you have your house/apartment already paid for, you might be paying R$500 per month in condo fees, and living a comfortable life might be hard.
