Hi. Can you tell me if English is widely spoken and understood in Rio de Janeiro? Thanks

English is not widely spoken in Rio. I don't have numbers, but I believe that less than 0.1% of the roughly 10 million people living in the city are proficient in English. However, since Rio is a major international traveling destination and host several multinational companies, all major tourist places and businesses have English speakers.
