Question
Bom Dia:   I'm in Rio on a Tourist Visa to meet my now finance....due to her Mother's stroke, now is not the time to get married.  Can I obtain a Permanent Visa while living in Brazil?
   Thank You, Wayne

Answer
You can obtain a permanent visa while living in Brazil, but one based on your marriage. It will take quite a bit of time and entail a home visit by the P.F. to see that you are really married and living together in a relationship. Some other options for staying in Brazil legally might be investing R$150K in starting a business(and creating 10 jobs), showing a retirement pension of U$2K per month, fathering a Brazilian citizen child, becoming a student at an accredited university, or getting a job for which the employing company applies for a work visa on your behalf you, but these you would obtain outside of Brazil.
