I am looking to study Portuguese in Salvador and am looking to volunteer at a hospital or clinic in the area. I hear that they are in great need of volunteers and resources, yet many of these agencies charge an arm and a leg in order to talk to them for you. I was a medic for the military and have 6 years of experience in health care administration and management, I also have low-intermediate knowledge of Portuguese. Thank you so much for your time!

I dont know of anyone in Salvador anymore who could help you. My biggest source passed away last  year. You should contact the Red Cross, for example, and the Rotary Club. There are many volunteer opportunities, but I dont know if there will be any in your area. I think Red Cross or Doctors Without Borders would be a good place to start. That said, I dont think Doctors Without Borders is in Brazil, so go for Red Cross. Sorry couldnt be of more help, but this volunteering in salvador in the health care biz is not my expertise.
