Question
I am expecting to give birth in Sao Paulo. Will my child be eligible for the Brazilian citizenship even if I did not have a residency? What do I need to do?

Answer
Yes, he or she will be a Brazilian citizens. You will want to start that process early. However, if you have the baby and then move within a month or two, you will not have the time to do any of that paperwork. All of this is done at the federal police. They will issue passports and ciizenship IDs. You will also want to register the child with your home nation consulate or embassy so it will have Kuwaiti citizenship too. You do this around three months after the birth at your national consulate in Sao Paulo. I thik I read that you were from Kuwait, which is why I mentioned it. Good luck in Sao Paulo.
