Brazil/overstaying visa

Question
I suppose its a general question related to all travel but since I like argentina and would want to travel there someday can you tell me what happens when a person overstays thier visa? if a person just wanted to ' go off the grid ' in another country...do the authorites go looking for such people? what if a person simply doesnt want to leave...what are the options legally?

Answer
Hello Peter,

I am not an expert in visa issues. Usually you can overstay in a country without major problems. Authorities rarely will try to find and deport you. However, you can get in trouble if you leave the country and try to get another visa to go back again (you will be in their "black" list).

My recommendation is to contact a good immigration lawyer in Argentina or contact the Argentina's embassy in your home country for any legal advise.

Good luck!
