Question
Hi Edison,

Myself and 4 other friends are going to Brazil end of July. We are going to spend about 6 days there. We are taking a night bus from Uruguay to Rio.

I would like to ask for your suggestion on places to visit, things to do, places to eat in Brazil. I would like to fit in as many places as possible as well during those 6 days.

Can you please also recommend a place to stay? How much money do you think I will need for 6 days there. What means of transport to get around the city and go to the tourist place?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Kind Regards,

Margaret

Answer
Hello Margaret,

Rio is a big city with many hotel options and attraction to visit. It all depends how much money you want to spend. You would need at least US$200 per day for food, hotel and tours.

For Hostel information, google for "hostel rio de janeiro".  Copacabana, Ipanema and Barra da Tijuca are the most popular places to stay in Rio. Since not many people can speak English in Rio, and the city is not very safe, I would recommend you take a tour bus or van to visit the most popular places and attend some shows. Most hotels and hostels can arrange tour companies, and show tickets, and recommend good places to eat.
