Brazil/Residency Visa, CPF & RNE
Expert: Edison - 4/18/2011
QuestionHi Edison,
Yeah i have finally moved down to Brazil after a lot of time consuming paper work. I'd say it was fun and testing at times. Anyways coming to my point, I have submitted all my documentation to the local federal and the documents have been accepted and approved for the process of the permanent visa as i am married to a Brazilian National and did all the legal formalities of marriage in Brazil. 3 weeks later, An officer came to my residence to verify and check if the information provided was correct and thus informed the process would take 3 months for me to get my permanent visa. Now I do have the following questions?
1. Where and when can i get a CPF? is there another procedure for that or it comes along with the RNE. Is it that important or should i just wait for the RNE to do all public formalities.
2. After getting my permanent visa? I need to apply for an RNE right? How long does that take to come.
3. I am still in search of a job and what documents is required to have when searching for a job here?
4. Do foreigners get taxed heavily on their monthly incomes or is there any cut out rate?
I am kinda confused about the CPF even do know the use of it. I did go to a bank and they told me to have my PR visa and RNE.
The funny thing here is the info is never accurate and its always different :) beside that this place is wonderful.
Cheers.
AnswerHello Eddie,
Welcome to the Brazilian non-sense bureaucracy.
I am not very familiar with the immigration legal system in Brazil. So, I would recommend to hire a lawyer to help on your RNE, CPF and labor card ("carteira de trabalho") and taxes related questions.
Good luck!
