Answer
Mado:
I dont know where Santa Barbara DŽOeste is in Sao Paulo. It sounds like it is in the interior of the state.

Brazil customs and traditions vary per region. Brazil, like the U.S., is a continental sized nation with various peoples spread out over big land masses and states. The national traditions are Carnaval, each February, and Festa Junina, a June holiday -- known as the June Parties -- to honor the saints. Of course, both holidays are based on religious stories, but neither are very relgious.  Carnaval is total hedonism, especially in Rio, Bahia and Sao Paulo. And the June Parties are an excuse for people to dress up like hillbillies and drink a lot.  These are the main traditions and you can do a google search on them and fidn out all you will ever need to know about them.
