Brazil/Brazilian Names
Expert: Edison - 12/4/2005
QuestionEdison,
I am writing a sports simulation software program. The game will create players of all nationalities, like Japanese, South Korean, U.S., Brasilian, etc.
The game will randomly create players, like "Steve Smith" in the U.S. or "Takashi Yokomatsu" in Japan. To create these players, the game uses a list of first and last names for each country.
I'm trying to create these files for Brasil, so that the game can generate realistic Brasilian names.
To do so, I need to create a list of Brasilian last names and male first names. I've been searching on the internet, but have not been able to find any good lists, especially for surnames.
Do you have any suggestions as to where I could find this?
Thanks very much!
Steve
AnswerHello Steve,
The Brazilian soccer federation has a list of players of its three top divisions on the URLs listed below. The teams are listed on the "Clube" column and the players under the "Nome" one.
The players are on the following order: first, middle and last name. Remember that "De ...", "Da ..." or "Dos ..." are part of the last name, such as "Da Silva", "Dos Santos".
You can take the first name of one player and the last name of another to create virtual names.

Have fun, Edison
