Brazil/Dress code?

Question
hi again!

Thanks for the quick reply. Couple more questions. That was helpful!

1) Are there any good bars/clubs to go to that allow for singles to mix, NOT involving hookers? I had heard good things about Baronetti?

2) Should I bother bringing a pair of black slacks (dress pants) to Rio? Or should I just rely on 2 pairs of jeans? I'm trying to pack lightly and have a couple nice shirts, but not sure if I will not be allowed in some nicer clubs b/c of a strict dress code not allowing jeans?

Is this the case?

Thanks!

Eric

Hi,

I had emailed you before about questions in Rio, Brazil. While I am not interested in the "sex tourism", I do remember you saying to beware of younger girls.

I know that the legal age of consent is 18 in the USA. And that the drinking age is 21.

What is the drinking age and the legal age to give consent for sexual acts / intercourse in Rio, Brazil?

Thanks again!

Eric

18 is fine. There is not legal drinking age.  Bars dont ask to see your ID, so you could see a 16 year old ina night club (discoteque) who then lies to you about her age.

Did I tell you about this thing called Boa Noite, Gringo? Girls seduce foreign men, buy them a drink that they drop a pill of some sort inside that will knock you out in a few hours, then they get you to bring them to your hotel room and rob you blind.  Never let a stranger -- especially an overly flirtatious one or one that seems totally out of your league -- to be buying you drinks in Rio.

Look, your enot goign to go to jail for sleepign with a 16 year old, unless you pay for sex and get caught. There could easily be undercover operations that would nab you.  Rio is not known as a sexual tourism hot spot -- as are some s.e. asian nations -- and they do not want to ever get that reputation. Beware. Be smart.

Answer
Im not big on the bar scene in Rio.  I just know that you shouldnt go to HELP on Copacabana Beach if you DONT want to meet a hooker.  I cant recommend any one in particular, Im a restuarant and piano bar man myself or just hang out with friends.

Yes, your black pants will be ok.
